Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko revealed that a dozen Ukrainian drones were taken down over his country during the night. These drones were able to detect and eliminate air defense systems in southern Belarus, leading Lukashenko to believe they were attack drones flying in from Ukraine.
During a press conference in Minsk, Lukashenko noted that the air defense forces of Belarus were put on high alert in response to this intrusion. He mentioned that Belarus has repeatedly experienced violations of its airspace by Ukraine.
Lukashenko stated that Belarus successfully intercepted the drones, with radar detecting additional drones heading towards Russia before diverting towards Yaroslavl. The Belarusian military promptly alerted their Russian counterparts, who were able to take down the incoming drones using their air defense systems.
