El Mayo Zambada Allegedly Taken to US Against His Will

The US Embassy in Mexico revealed that Mexican drug lord Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada was forcefully brought to the US by Joaquin Guzman Lopez, son of “El Chapo.” Zambada, the co-founder of the Sinaloa cartel, was reportedly kidnapped near Culiacan, Mexico, and flown to the United States against his will.

Guadalupe Valencia, Zambada’s lawyer, claimed that the kidnapping involved military uniforms and was not a voluntary surrender as previously suggested. However, the Guzman family attorney denied these allegations, stating it was a result of negotiations.

In July, both Zambada and Guzman Lopez appeared at an airport outside El Paso, Texas, surprising US officials. The US embassy emphasized that no US resources were involved in the surrender and denied any direct involvement in the operation.

Cartel Infighting Concerns

The arrests of these cartel members have raised concerns about potential violent infighting within the Sinaloa cartel. Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador urged drug cartels to avoid conflicts, as the organization is known for its violent and powerful drug trafficking operations.

The situation underscores ongoing tensions within the cartel and the challenges of maintaining peace in the region.
