Congress Accuses BJP of Complicating Reservation Issue in Maharashtra
In a recent development, the Congress has accused the BJP of creating conflicts between different castes in Maharashtra over the reservation issue. Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole has called upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and resolve the imbroglio.
According to Patole, the BJP has undermined the ideologies of Phule-Shahu-Ambedkar and misled the Maratha and OBC communities on the reservation issue, thereby harming social harmony. The Congress party’s stance on reservations is clear – there should be a caste-wise census and the 50 per cent cap on reservations should be removed.
Patole also criticized BJP’s Deputy Chief Minister for failing to resolve the reservation issue despite making promises in the past. He emphasized the need for those in power to take decisions on reservations instead of asking the opposition.
If the Congress government comes to power in the State and the Centre, they pledge to resolve the reservation issue. The current government, Patole stated, has failed to address the concerns of marginalized communities.
