Beirut –
Urgent pleas are being made for foreign nationals to leave Lebanon as tensions escalate in the region following high-profile killings attributed to Israel. The country is bracing itself to potentially become the battleground of a regional conflict involving Iran and its allies.
Efforts are underway to prevent a large-scale military confrontation, with French President Emmanuel Macron and Jordan’s King Abdullah II stressing the importance of avoiding escalation at all costs during a recent phone call.
Military action from Hezbollah, an Iran-backed movement in Lebanon, is anticipated, prompting a warning from Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant that any attack on Israel will result in severe consequences for the aggressors.
