Lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has requested the court to ensure protection for the Ayodhya rape victim, emphasizing the sensitivity of the case and condemning any attempts to politicize it.
Yadav stressed the government’s role in providing top-notch medical care and safeguarding the victim’s life. He further urged the honorable court to take suo motu cognizance of the situation and ensure the victim’s security under its supervision.
Following Yadav’s controversial demand for a DNA test on the accused, tensions rose with BSP chief Mayawati questioning previous similar cases handled during SP rule.
Allegations and counter-allegations ensued between parties, with the BJP accusing the SP of backing a “paedophile.” Yadav, however, stood firm on his call for DNA and NARCO tests in the case.
Furthermore, chief minister Yogi Adityanath linked the accused to the Samajwadi Party, adding fuel to the political fire ignited by the case.
Yadav also demanded financial assistance for the victim’s family and reasserted the importance of accountability and justice in such grave situations.
Recent developments have seen the demolition of the accused’s bakery by the Ayodhya district administration as investigations continue.
