In a tragic turn of events, a deadly attack at a beach restaurant in Somalia has left many civilians dead and wounded. This incident marks the deadliest attack in the country since October 2022, when twin car bombs killed at least 100 people and injured 300 others.
Police spokesperson Abdifatah Aden confirmed that alongside the civilian casualties, one soldier was also killed during the assault. Security forces managed to neutralize three attackers, while one was captured alive and one blew himself up.
While no group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet, al Qaeda-linked al Shabaab has been behind similar incidents in the past. The government, led by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, is committed to eradicating terrorism and ensuring the safety of civilians.
Despite previous setbacks, al Shabaab continues to pose a threat through sporadic attacks on various targets. The government is working tirelessly with security agencies to strengthen security measures in the city and eliminate terrorist elements hiding in the midst of civilians.
Let us stand united against such acts of violence and report any suspicious activities to ensure peace and stability in Somalia.
