Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo aims to position Kogi State as a leading hub of livestock production in Nigeria, as he pledges to enhance productivity and ensure food security in the state. During an interactive session with 500 women and youth in the poultry value chain, the governor highlighted the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) project, backed by the federal government and the World Bank Group, as a game-changer in the agricultural sector.
The initiative will serve as a model for training and demonstrate best practices in Kogi State, with a focus on empowering women, youth, and People With Disabilities (PWDs). The project, coordinated by Dr. Olufemi Bolarin, aims to improve productivity, commercialization, and resilience in the livestock value chain, while closing gender gaps and supporting entrepreneurship.
With the support of the state government and its partners, the L-PRES project has already provided credit support to 500 women and youth farmers in the poultry value chain in Kogi State, signaling a new era of self-reliance and empowerment within the community.
