The Funeral of Ismail Haniyeh: A Moment of Mourning and Solidarity
The recent burial of Ismail Haniyeh, the Hamas leader assassinated by the Israeli regime, in Doha was a solemn event attended by regional dignitaries, including Iranian officials. The ceremony, held at the royal cemetery in Lusail, was preceded by a funeral prayer in Doha’s largest mosque, where leaders from various nations paid their respects.
In the aftermath of Haniyeh’s death, Pakistan’s Prime Minister and Turkey’s President offered funeral prayers in absentia, and both countries declared days of national mourning. Iran, too, announced three days of mourning to honor the slain leader.
Hamas called for a day of anger to protest Haniyeh’s assassination, urging people to denounce the “cowardly crime.” Ayatollah Khamenei, during funeral prayers in Tehran, vowed a harsh response against Israel for the killing.
The passing of Ismail Haniyeh marks the end of an era for Hamas, with the movement now facing a pivotal moment in its struggle for justice and liberation.
