Egypt Supports South Africa’s Case Against Israel in Genocide Issue
Egypt has announced its official intervention to support South Africa’s genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), in response to the escalating severity of Israeli attacks on Palestinian civilians in Gaza. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that these attacks violate international law and the Fourth Geneva Convention, requiring Israel to uphold its obligations as the occupying power.
The ministry called for Israel to implement ICJ interim measures for humanitarian aid access in Gaza, refrain from further violations against Palestinians, and adhere to the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. Egypt also urged the UN Security Council and international parties to intervene and protect Palestinian civilians in Gaza, particularly in the city of Rafah, from ongoing military operations.
With this statement, Egypt reaffirms its commitment to defending the rights of Palestinians and seeking accountability for the actions of the Israeli government.
