Former South African president Jacob Zuma has faced yet another setback as he has been expelled from the African National Congress (ANC), his long-time political party. This decision was confirmed by the ANC’s secretary general on Monday.
Zuma’s expulsion comes after he was suspended from the ANC in January for announcing his plans to campaign for the new uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK) party in the general election held in May. The ANC suffered a major blow in the election, losing its parliamentary majority for the first time in 30 years. As a result, the party was forced to form a unity government with smaller rivals.
This latest development marks a significant downfall for Zuma, who has faced numerous controversies and legal issues during his time in office. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the former president and how this expulsion will impact the political landscape in South Africa.
