The Ministry of Fisheries in Sanaa has strongly condemned the recent attack by coalition-backed militants on fishermen in Buhais, Hajjah province. The militants seized four boats and fishing equipment, leaving the fishermen with only one boat. This act of aggression jeopardizes the livelihoods of these fishermen who rely on fishing for survival.
In a statement, the ministry held the Saudi regime and coalition-backed government accountable for the safety of the fishermen and their property. It called on the United Nations to intervene and condemn the ongoing violations against Yemeni fishermen by the coalition forces.
The Ministry urged for the immediate return of the detained boats and fishing equipment, as well as an end to all violations against fishermen. The international community must pressure the coalition forces to respect the rights of these fishermen who are only trying to make a living.
Let us stand in solidarity with the fishermen of Yemen and advocate for their protection and safety in the face of unjust aggression. #SaveYemeniFishermen
