Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, has extended an invitation for talks with protesters amidst a shutter down strike in the region demanding cheaper electricity and flour. In a press conference, PM Haq addressed the situation, condemning the extremist actions that led to the tragic martyrdom of a police officer during the protest.
Emphasizing the government’s commitment to dialogue, Haq expressed willingness to negotiate with the action committee and dismissed rumors of officials resigning. He assured that measures will be taken to ensure relief for the people, even if it means cutting the development budget. Highlighting the importance of ensuring public safety, he stated that no force was used during the protests and that agreements were reached through peaceful negotiations.
“The security of people is our priority. The government has ensured that no force was used during the protest. Some of the protesters were miscreants. An agreement was reached as a result of negotiations with the Public Action Committee.”
The protests in Azad Jammu and Kashmir have intensified, with clashes between police and protesters resulting in casualties. As the situation unfolds, PM Haq’s call for dialogue offers hope for a peaceful resolution to the pressing issues in the region.
