Sahibzada Hamid Raza Resigns from PTI Committees

ISLAMABAD: Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) Chief Sahibzada Hamid Raza announced his resignation from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) core and political committees on Thursday, following mounting criticism against the party’s leadership after the Islamabad protest.

According to ARY News, sources revealed that Sahibzada Hamid Raza plans to further resign from his National Assembly membership, with his resignation expected to be officially submitted to PTI founder Imran Khan in an upcoming meeting.

The PTI leadership has been facing severe scrutiny after party workers retreated from D-Chowk in Islamabad, failing to secure the release of Imran Khan. The retreat, coupled with a large-scale crackdown by authorities leading to the arrest of hundreds of PTI workers, has left the party in disarray.

Sahibzada Hamid Raza’s resignation comes shortly after PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja also stepped down from his position. Both resignations highlight growing dissatisfaction within the party, and sources suggest that more resignations may follow, reflecting deep divisions within the ranks.

Criticism from PTI workers has intensified, with many questioning the absence of senior leaders during the D-Chowk protest. This sentiment has further fueled internal discord as the party struggles to manage the fallout from the failed protest.

Meanwhile, the PTI political committee convened in Islamabad to address the aftermath of the protest. The committee discussed potential legal actions regarding the alleged losses of life and property during the crackdown on protesters.

With leadership resignations piling up and internal unrest escalating, the PTI faces significant challenges in regaining its organizational stability and political credibility. Sahibzada Hamid Raza’s resignation marks yet another setback for a party already under pressure to navigate its way through a turbulent political landscape.
