A convicted murderer who stabbed a mother-of-three to death over $50 has been granted release from a Victorian prison to undergo IVF treatment.
Alicia Schiller has been given special permission to leave Dame Phyllis Frost Centre receive IVF in order to conceive her second child.
She is serving a 16-year sentence after stabbing to death her roommate, Tyrelle Evertsen-Mostert in a drug-fuelled rage in 2014.

Yvonne and Jim Gentle, whose young grandson was there when Schiller killed his mum and their daughter, are incensed.
“It’s just not right,” Yvonne said.
“What’s the point of punishment for what you’ve done, if you’re going to allow people to have a better life. She took away a life. Does she have the right to a better life?
“She knew she was taking a mother away from a child.
The Allan government said a 2010 Supreme Court ruling provided a pathway for prisoners to access fertility treatment while serving a jail term.
It said prisoners who pursue treatment are required to privately fund their care, including transport and escort costs.
Shadow Corrections Minister Brad Battin said Schiller was not suitable to be a mother while serving a murder sentence.

“In what world would this convicted killer be seen as a suitable mother while still in prison serving a lengthy sentence for stabbing someone over a $50 debt?” Battin said.
Victorian Corrections Minister Enver Erdogan said the decision raised questions about the appropriate access to health services in prison.
“I think about what appropriate medical care is an the broader welfare ethical questions which are good questions the medical provider needs to consider,” he said.
The Victims of Crime Commissioner told 9News it does not comment on individual matters.
9News has confirmed that Schiller’s treatment, transport to appointments and guard costs are being paid for out of the prisoner’s pocket, however the prison system is already under staffing stress.
