The Egyptian Interior Ministry revealed the truth behind a video clip recently shown on TV of some people negotiating to buy stone pieces from the archaeological area of the Giza pyramids in order to be sent over abroad.
A security source said that the video clip is “old” and was previously circulated in 2016, and the perpetrators of the incident were arrested at the time, and legal measures were taken.
The source also indicated that a statement about the incident was published on the official page of the Ministry at the time.
The source indicated that some parties have been keen to republish “old” video clips and claim that they are “recent” in order to spread misinformation.
