The committee stated that criminal cases have been filed against 70 of them, including citizens from the United States, France, Sweden, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Moldova.

On Thursday, November 14, Russia’s state news agency TASS reported that the Russian Investigative Committee claimed these 800 foreigners are allegedly fighting Russia in exchange for money.

According to the report, Russian courts have so far issued rulings for more than 30 foreign fighters.

Details regarding the sentences issued against these foreign nationals have not been disclosed by Russian courts.

Meanwhile, Western sources have stated that Russia is also relying on foreign forces in its fight against Ukraine.

Mark Rutte, the Secretary-General of NATO, confirmed that North Korean soldiers have been sent to Russia and are stationed in the Kursk region. He indicated that this development suggests Russia cannot sustain its conflict with Ukraine without foreign support.

The involvement of foreign nationals on both sides of the Russia-Ukraine conflict underscores the global ramifications and geopolitical stakes of the war. As international volunteers and mercenaries participate in the conflict, tensions between Russia and Western allies are likely to escalate, complicating efforts toward peace.

Furthermore, the reliance on foreign fighters may suggest a protracted conflict with increasing external involvement, potentially drawing in more nations indirectly.
