تشارك الشركة السعودية للكهرباء، غداً ضمن وفد المملكة المُشارك مؤتمر الأطراف التاسع والعشرين لاتفاقية الأمم المتحدة الإطارية بشأن تغير المناخ (COP29)، والذي تعقد فعالياته في العاصمة الأذربيجانية باكو.
وتأتي مشاركة الشركة في هذا المؤتمر الدولي تجسيداً لريادتها في مجال الاستدامة ومكافحة التغير المناخي، وتأكيداً على التزامها في تحقيق أهدافها الإستراتيجية في هذه المجالات.
ومن هذا المنطلق، عملت الشركة السعودية للكهرباء على تطوير إستراتيجيتها للممارسات البيئية والاجتماعية وحوكمة الشركات من خلال ركائز أساسية، والتي تشتمل على مبادرات وأهداف لتخفيض الانبعاثات ومواجهة تأثير التغير المناخي، بالإضافة إلى تحقيق طموح الشركة للوصول إلى صافي الانبعاثات الصفري في عام 2050.
كما أطلقت الشركة بإشراف من وزارة الطاقة مشاريع لرفع كفاءة الطاقة والتشغيل بالدورة المركبة والانتقال نحو مزيج طاقة نظيفة بما في ذلك إزاحة الوقود السائل بحلول عام 2030، كذلك تطوير شبكة نقل الكهرباء إلى شبكة ذكية، والعمل على دمج مشاريع الطاقة المتجددة في الشبكة، بالإضافة إلى مشروع العدادات الذكية وضخ المزيد من الاستثمارات في تقنيات البحث والتطوير.
