From ancient civilizations to breathtaking natural wonders, China is home to 59 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. At this photo exhibition, “The Memory of Mankind,” more than 150 images by Chinese photographers take us on a journey through these stunning landmarks.
Beijing’s Central Axis – a historical north-south line running through the heart of the city – was recently recognized as another UNESCO World Heritage Site. The exhibition features key sights and scenes along this iconic route.
Zhou Meisheng, the curator of this exhibition, said photographers play a vital role in documenting and safeguarding these World Heritage Sites for future generations.
“Photographers use their lenses and the universal language of visual imagery to present heritage in the most impactful way,” Zhou shared.
The exhibition is now on tour across China and will travel to Anhui, Sichuan, Zhejiang and Guangdong provinces in the months to come.
