At the 2024 Global Ocean Development Forum in east China’s Qingdao City, Peter Thomson, United Nations secretary-general’s special envoy for the ocean, highlighted the importance of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030) in addressing critical challenges facing our oceans.
“Qingdao is playing a very important role because you have huge investment here in the UN Decade of Ocean Science,” he said, congratulating the city for its support of the decade.
