Foreign media have reported that South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol spoke with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump about the presence of North Korean troops in Russia.
On Thursday, November 7, NKH reported that Yoon and Trump discussed shared concerns between Seoul and Washington regarding North Korean soldiers being stationed on the front lines of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
According to the report, the South Korean president held a 10-minute phone conversation with the U.S. President-elect on Thursday.
The two leaders also expressed concerns about North Korea’s ongoing pursuit of nuclear and missile development.
Yoon praised Trump for strengthening the trilateral framework between South Korea, the United States, and Japan during his first term as president and urged further reinforcement of these ties.
The South Korean presidential office stated that both leaders agreed to meet in person at the earliest opportunity.
It’s worth noting that North Korean troops, recently deployed to Russia, reportedly engaged in combat with Ukrainian forces in Russia’s Kursk region for the first time earlier this week.
This conversation highlights the shared security concerns of South Korea and the U.S. regarding North Korea’s military activities, with both leaders emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in addressing these threats.
