Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi National Security Council (INSC) denied on Wednesday that Iran used Iraqi territories to respond to Israel’s attacks that took place in October.
During a meeting chaired by the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, the INSC reaffirmed Iraq’s support for the struggle of the people in both Lebanon and Gaza and condemned Israel’s genocidal crimes, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.
The INSC emphasized that the reports on the use of Iraqi land to launch strikes are only fabricated excuses meant to serve as a justification for attacking Iraq and its sovereignty.
The INSC underlined that, given Israel’s aggressive measures against the countries of the region, Iraq’s highest interests require that its territory and airspace are always kept apart from the conflict that Israel is attempting to escalate.
Officials in Israel claimed that satellites monitored Iran’s transportation of missiles and military equipment to Iraq to be used in an imminent attack on Israel, according to The Times of Israel.
Tehran has threatened to respond severely to an Israeli attack on October 26 that targeted military sites in Iran. The Israeli attack took place as a response to an Iranian missile strike against Israel on October 1.
