Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, and his Azerbaijani counterpart, Jeyhun Bayramov, reviewed on Monday the latest developments in the region.
During a phone conversation, the two sides reviewed strategies to promote ties between Iraq and Azerbaijan in different areas, according to a statement released by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.
Hussein underlined the need for protecting Iraq from the threats posed by the current conflict, preventing the war from extending further, and refraining from using Iraqi airspace in this war.
Hussein and Bayramov talked about the participation of Iraq in the UN Climate Change Conference, which is set to take place in Azerbaijan this month.
Bayramov reviewed the final arrangements for the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference, known as COP29, which will be held in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, from 11 to 22 November.
The recent official visit by the Iraqi President, Abdul Latif Rashid, to Azerbaijan marked a significant step towards enhancing bilateral relations. During this visit, discussions focused on expanding cooperation in various domains, including trade, tourism, and investment.
Both countries signed several agreements aimed at boosting political and economic collaboration. This includes an air services agreement to facilitate tourism between Iraq and Azerbaijan.
