BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 26. The Azerbaijani Army initiated the “Iron Fist” counter-offensive operation on September 27, 2020, in response to Armenian armed forces’ aggression along the frontline, resulting in the liberation of Azerbaijani territories after 44 days of intense conflict.
President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, participated in an interview with the Italian Rai 1 TV channel on October 26, discussing the recent truce agreements and the ongoing conflict.
In the interview, President Aliyev emphasized the need for Armenia to adhere to fundamental principles for peace negotiations, highlighted Armenia’s disruptive actions, and refuted allegations of mercenaries and Turkish troops’ involvement.
Italy’s potential role in facilitating a peaceful resolution to the conflict was discussed, emphasizing the importance of mutual goodwill between Azerbaijan and Armenia for lasting peace.
President Aliyev expressed optimism for a prosperous future in the Karabakh region if reconciliation and the restoration of Azerbaijani territories occur.
