Park Dan, dean of the major, met with representative Lee Jae-myung, but participation in the committee seems uncertain.

In a recent meeting between Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party, and Park Dan, the emergency response committee chairman of the Korean Medical Association, discussions were held regarding the medical school quota for 2025. However, Park Dan seemed to refuse participation in the joint legislative committee being formed by both ruling and opposition parties. This private meeting took place on October 26 in Seoul, where they talked about the legislative dispute. Lee requested Park’s participation in the joint legislative committee between the ruling and opposition parties, but Park appeared to decline. The Democratic Party did not disclose any information regarding the participation of medical professionals in the joint legislative committee during a press briefing. Despite this, they confirmed that Park’s stance on increasing medical school quotas for 2025 remained unchanged. The meeting lasted about 1.5 hours and was attended by Lee Jae-myung, Park Ju-min, and Kang Cheong-hee from the Democratic Party. Overall, both leaders agreed to continue communicating in order to find solutions to the medical crisis in the country.
