Low voter turnout recorded in Kano LG elections.

Low voter turnout recorded in Kano LG elections.

The recent Local Government elections in Kano state experienced a low voter turnout, particularly in the Kano metropolis and surrounding areas. Reports indicate that voting was delayed at some polling centers due to the late arrival of election materials, resulting in a lack of voter presence. However, at locations like the Tarauni PHC polling center, where the election started on time, there was still a noticeable low voter turnout.

On a positive note, the Gandun Albasa Special Primary School, hosting 21 polling units, saw a significant number of voters patiently waiting in queues to cast their votes. Despite initial concerns of potential unrest during the elections, residents were pleased with the peaceful conduct observed. Compliance with movement restrictions further contributed to the overall peaceful atmosphere of the election.

Polling officers like Tajuddeen Uba from Gandun Albasa reported that voting began promptly and proceeded smoothly, with voters participating in an orderly manner. The successful and peaceful conduct of the election reflects positively on the people of Kano state.
