The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) has taken responsibility for the recent attack on a Turkish defense company in Ankara, leaving five dead and 22 injured. The assault, carried out by two attackers armed with rifles and explosives, targeted the headquarters of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI).
The PKK claimed the attack was executed by their Immortals Battalion, as stated in a message posted on Telegram. Despite earlier evidence pointing to the PKK, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized that the goal of the attack was to protect the country’s survival.
Following the incident, the Turkish government launched airstrikes on PKK positions in northern Iraq and Syria, where the group operates from the Qandil Mountains. The PKK, recognized as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU, has been engaged in sporadic conflicts with the Turkish state since 1984.
