Kano distributes N28.4m to victims of fire disaster

The Kano State Government recently distributed N28.4 million to 62 victims of a fire disaster in the state. Governor Abba-Yusuf disclosed this while unveiling the distribution of cash to those affected. The Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hajiya Abdullahi, represented the governor and emphasized that the gesture aimed to provide relief to the victims.

The Executive Secretary of Kano State Emergency Management Agency, Alhaji Isyaku Kubarachi, stated that the affected individuals suffered property loss valued at N835.9 million. Out of the 62 victims, seven lost their lives, and 11 beneficiaries received aid.

Kubarachi commended various entities for their support, including Governor Yusuf, the Nigeria Red Cross, NEMA, and other stakeholders. NEMA Coordinator, Dr. Nuraddeen Abdullahi, urged the public, especially women using firewood and charcoal, to exercise caution with fire to prevent future disasters.

Beneficiary Ahmadu Sale expressed gratitude for the government’s support, recounting a tragic incident involving his family. The aid provided by the government offered solace to those affected by the devastating fire incident in Kano.
