Justice Yahya Afridi Sworn in as 30th Chief Justice of Pakistan

Justice Yahya Afridi was sworn in as the 30th Chief Justice of Pakistan during an oath-taking ceremony at the President House in Islamabad. President Asif Ali Zardari administered the oath, and Justice Afridi will serve as the CJP for three years until Oct 26, 2027.

He was nominated by a Special Parliamentary Committee under the recently legislated 26th Amendment. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir were present at the ceremony, along with other Supreme Court judges.

Justice Afridi, who hails from Dera Ismail Khan, comes from a family with a history of public service. He completed his education in Pakistan and abroad, specializing in law and international studies. He has served in various legal capacities before his appointment as the CJP.
