Israeli army detains medical staff, patients in northern Gaza hospital

The Gaza Health Ministry reported that the Israeli army has detained medical staff and injured patients at the Kamal Adwan Hospital amid a 22-day offensive. The ministry urgently called on international and humanitarian organizations to intervene and protect those detained in the hospital. Communication with medical teams inside the hospital was disrupted following the Israeli incursion, and the World Health Organization lost contact with the hospital where hundreds of patients, injured individuals, displaced persons, and medical staff were reportedly detained.

Israel has targeted civilian facilities like hospitals, houses of worship, and schools in its offensive on Gaza, disregarding the rules of war. Ground incursions and bombardments continue as Israeli forces aim for forced displacement of Palestinians, in violation of a UN Security Council resolution for an immediate cease-fire. The ongoing conflict has resulted in significant casualties, with thousands killed and injured, predominantly women and children.

Israel is facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in Gaza, escalating calls for accountability and a resolution to the long-standing conflict in the region.
