Israel targets Syria, Iraq in response to Iranian threat

Israel launched airstrikes in Syria and Iraq in response to Iranian threats on Saturday. Syrian media confirmed that military targets were hit in central and southern Syria.

The Syrian Military reported explosions outside Damascus, attributed to their air defense system intercepting Israeli missiles. The strikes were believed to target Iranian early warning radars.

Explosions in Iraq

Although initial reports pointed to Basra, Iraqi officials later clarified that the explosions occurred in Iran. Basra, a Shia stronghold, has a history of Shia uprisings.

In response to the attacks, the Iraqi Transportation Ministry suspended air traffic. The situation remains tense as the region navigates escalating tensions.

Amidst geopolitical complexities, Israel’s actions highlight the volatile landscape in the Middle East and the ongoing power struggles between regional players.
