Israel retaliated against Iran by conducting strikes on military targets in response to Tehran’s attacks on Israel. The tension escalated after Iran launched a ballistic missile barrage on Oct. 1, targeting Israel with around 200 missiles, marking the second direct attack within six months.
The Israel Defense Forces stated that the strikes were in response to continuous attacks from Iran and its proxies, emphasizing their right to defend against such aggression. The scope of the attack and its impact were not immediately clear.
Amid the heightened tensions, explosions were heard in Tehran and nearby areas. Iranian authorities attributed the blasts to their air defense system and warned of a strong retaliation if Israel continued its aggression.
While the United States was informed about Israel’s actions, they were not involved in the operation, seeking to avoid further escalation. Israel’s defense minister warned enemies of facing consequences for targeting Israel, as the region remains on edge following recent conflicts with Palestinian militants and Hezbollah.
As the situation unfolds, efforts are being made to prevent further escalation and preserve stability in the region.
