The recent discussions between Iran and Uzbekistan have set high goals for boosting trade to $5 billion, surpassing the current level that is deemed inadequate for both nations. Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref emphasized the need to expedite the implementation of signed agreements to enhance cooperation and reach the ambitious trade target set by Uzbekistan’s Prime Minister.
Aref highlighted the importance of utilizing preferential tariffs, expanding goods benefiting from these tariffs, and enhancing banking cooperation to support future activities. He also proposed closer collaboration in technology, tourism, and cultural exchanges, urging Uzbekistan to consider abolishing visa requirements for Iranians.
Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, expressed interest in enhancing cooperation in technology and exporting goods to Europe with potential for joint production efforts. He suggested organizing an exhibition showcasing Uzbekistan’s capabilities in Tehran to strengthen trade ties and improve transport networks between the two countries.
