Five Army generals retire, reflect on careers

The Nigerian Army Ordinance Corps bid farewell to five retired major generals in Lagos, as they recounted their experiences during their time in service. The pulling out ceremony took place at the headquarters of NAOC, Abalti Barracks, Surulere, Lagos, with Maj.-Gen Omotomilola Akintade serving as the Reviewing Officer.

Akintade acknowledged the challenges faced during their military journey, highlighting the pain, strength, weaknesses, war, and peace that characterized their noble profession. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to speak on behalf of his fellow retired generals during this memorable occasion, marking their formal disengagement from active service in the Nigerian Army.

The retired generals reflected on their 34 years of service, emphasizing the values instilled by the Ordnance Corps and urging current personnel to remain loyal, dedicated, and professional in executing their duties. They expressed confidence in the continued support the corps would provide to the Nigerian Army in maintaining peace and security.

As they bid farewell, the retired officers thanked the Nigerian Army and past Chief of Army Staff for their vision and support, ensuring a strong and capable Ordnance Corps. The ceremony was marked by emotional sentiments, nostalgic memories, and a sense of contentment as they embraced their new chapter post-retirement.
