Doosan Expands into Kazakhstan: Opens Rep Office in Astana

Doosan Enerbility, a South Korean energy company, has announced plans to open a representative office in Astana, Kazakhstan. This decision was made during an official visit by a Kazakh delegation led by Energy Minister Almassadam Satkaliyev, from October 22 to 25.

After negotiations, the Kazakh Ministry of Energy signed a memorandum of understanding with Doosan Enerbility. The agreement includes plans for localizing energy equipment production, training Kazakh personnel, and establishing a representative office in Astana.

Minister Satkaliyev also engaged in discussions with major Korean energy companies and government officials, focusing on collaboration opportunities in the nuclear sector. The visit included talks about Kazakhstan’s first nuclear power plant and explored partnership opportunities in oil, gas, and renewable energy projects with South Korea’s Minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy.

Doosan Enerbility is currently working on a 1,000 MW gas power plant in Kazakhstan’s Turkestan region and conducting a technical assessment of the country’s energy infrastructure. This collaboration with KEPCO KPS aims to reduce emissions and extend the lifespan of power plants.
