Anambra Governor Approves N70k Minimum Wage

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has made a groundbreaking announcement, declaring the immediate implementation of the new minimum wage of N70,000 for workers in the state. This decision guarantees that the least paid worker in Anambra will receive a minimum of N70,000, with the possibility of earning between N78,000 to N84,000 based on government calculations.

In addition, Soludo approved a monthly cash award of N10,000 for all pensioners in the state until pension salaries are reviewed. This initiative aims to provide support and recognition to pensioners who are often overlooked in discussions about wage increases.

During a meeting with labour leaders, the governor emphasized the state government’s commitment to enhancing security by providing security vehicles for vigilante groups and other agencies. He also encouraged workers to consider joining the Contributory Pension Scheme for a secure future.

Led by NLC Chairman Humphrey Nwafor, the labour unions praised the governor for his worker-friendly approach and appreciated his donation of land for the construction of the NLC state Secretariat. This move is seen as a significant milestone for Anambra workers.
