The leader of the Innovation Party, Cho Kuk, made a bold declaration at the party’s first impeachment rally, promising to push for the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol. Taking inspiration from the candlelight protests that led to the resignation of former President Park Geun-hye, the Innovation Party announced that they will launch full-scale off-site struggles for the impeachment of the Yoon administration.
At a “Prosecution Disbandment, Yoon Suk-yeol Impeachment Declaration Rally” in front of the Seoul District Prosecutors’ Office, Cho Kuk emphasized the need to uphold the voice of the people and remove Yoon and his government for failing to listen to the nation’s wishes. With concerns about the future of the country under the Yoon administration, Cho Kuk urged for legal procedures to be followed and for the disbandment of the law firm that Yoon and his wife turned the prosecution into.
Prominent figures such as Han Chang-min of the Social Democratic Party and former lawmaker Choi Kang-wook also voiced their support for impeachment, stressing the need for political action to bring an end to what they perceive as the worst administration in history. With strong opposition mounting against the Yoon administration, it remains to be seen how this political turmoil will unfold.
