Von der Leyen and Kristo: Expansion as Top Priority.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has declared that enlargement will be a top priority during her second mandate. Following her visit to the flooded areas in Donja Jablanica, Von der Leyen expressed her support for Bosnia and Herzegovina and announced immediate mobilization of 20 million euros to aid in recovery efforts.

Von der Leyen praised BiH’s commitment to the European path and highlighted the importance of reforms for equal market access. She also emphasized the investment plan for the Western Balkans, focusing on clean energy and carbon neutrality goals.

Chairperson Borjana Krišto affirmed the government’s responsibility in fulfilling obligations for EU accession, despite facing challenges with certain legislative measures. Krišto expressed determination to meet upcoming obligations, particularly focusing on legislative reforms and the EU Growth Plan.

The visit to the Western Balkans is part of a four-day tour where Von der Leyen will meet with leaders from various countries to discuss support for the region’s integration and development.
