A recent report by The New York Times revealed that Chinese hackers targeted phones used by Republican US presidential candidate Donald Trump and his running mate J.D. Vance by infiltrating Verizon’s system. Investigators are currently trying to determine if any communications were compromised in the breach.
The Trump campaign has been informed that their phone numbers were among those targeted, both inside and outside of government, through the Verizon hack. Despite this alarming revelation, the campaign has yet to comment on the situation.
This is not the first time the Trump campaign has been the victim of hacking. Earlier this year, members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps were charged by the US Justice Department for attempting to disrupt the November 5 election through a hack on the campaign.
