Turkish military ‘neutralizes’ 11 terrorists in North Syria

The Turkish Armed Forces have carried out operations in northern Syria, neutralizing 11 PKK/YPG terrorists in the region. The term “neutralize” can refer to the surrender, capture, or killing of the terrorists. The Ministry of Defense stated that their operations will continue until the last terrorist is dealt with.

These operations were prompted by a recent terrorist attack on the Turkish Aerospace Industries headquarters in Ankara, which resulted in five deaths and 22 injuries. The PKK, a designated terrorist organization, has been responsible for the deaths of over 40,000 individuals in Türkiye over the past 40 years. The YPG is the Syrian branch of the PKK.

To combat terrorism and ensure security in the region, Turkey has conducted several successful anti-terror operations in northern Syria since 2016: Euphrates Shield, Olive Branch, and Peace Spring, aiming to prevent the formation of a terror corridor and promote peace for residents.
