Trump and Harris tied in national poll, only 25% think country on right path

A recent poll revealed that former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are neck and neck in voter preference, with only a quarter of respondents believing the country is on the right track.

The New York Times/Siena College survey of 2,516 likely voters conducted from Oct. 20 to Oct. 23 showed both candidates tied at 48% each, with a margin of error of 2.5%. Harris had previously led Trump by three points in early October.

The poll also found that only 28% of voters think the U.S. is moving in the right direction under President Biden and Harris, while 61% believe it is heading in the wrong direction.

When asked about key issues, 27% of respondents prioritized the economy, while abortion and immigration tied at 15%. Trump was favored by 6% in handling the economy, down from a 13-point lead in the previous poll.
