TN Engineer Honors Late Son with 3,400 Trees – A Lasting Legacy

In a heartwarming story of resilience and healing, Munusamy, a civil engineer from Tamil Nadu, turned his grief over the loss of his youngest son into a green mission. After losing his son, Munusamy found solace in nature and began planting saplings on Chetty Hill in memory of his beloved child. What started as a personal tribute soon blossomed into a mission to rejuvenate the hillside.

Since 2022, Munusamy has planted over 3,400 saplings with the support of his community and local authorities. His efforts were recognized by the Tamil Nadu Government, which awarded him the Green Champion Award in 2023. Encouraged by this recognition, Munusamy has now set up a charitable foundation in his son’s name with the goal of planting five lakh trees across the state.

Munusamy’s story is a testament to the healing power of nature and the resilience of the human spirit. By transforming his loss into a legacy of environmental stewardship, he continues to honor his son’s memory and bring hope and life to Chetty Hill.
