Tajikistan Implements Plan for Disaster-Resilient Housing in 80 Characters

Tajikistan has adopted a roadmap to enhance housing construction and resilience to natural disasters. The decision came after a consultative seminar organized by the Committee of Emergency Situations and Civil Defense (CESCD) as part of the National Disaster Risk Management Project supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The project focuses on raising awareness of disaster risks and resilience, with a recent study on disaster-resilient infrastructure standards, especially earthquake resistance in the Rasht Valley region. Officials from various Tajikistan government bodies and international organizations participated in the seminar to discuss disaster risk management.

Implemented by the CESCD, the project aims to reduce economic losses from natural hazards and integrate disaster risk management into development planning. It is aligned with Tajikistan’s National Development Strategy (2016-2030) and Midterm Development Program (2016-2020).
