The Supreme Court bids farewell to Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa

The Supreme Court recently held a full court reference to bid farewell to outgoing Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa. Justice Isa, who was sworn in as the 29th CJP in 2023, was praised by fellow judges and lawyers for his tenure’s highlights.

Justice Yahya Afridi is set to take oath as the next CJP. The full court reference was also live-streamed on the Supreme Court’s website and YouTube channel.

During the event, Attorney-General for Pakistan, Vice-Chairman of the Pakistan Bar Council, and President of the Supreme Court Bar Association spoke about Justice Isa’s contributions. Following the reference, CJP Isa attended a luncheon reception hosted by CJP-designate Justice Afridi.

In his speech, Justice Afridi highlighted Justice Isa’s humility and wrath, describing him as a good yet fierce judge. The incoming CJP emphasized the importance of focusing on districts that often get overlooked.

Overall, the event celebrated Justice Isa’s legacy and welcomed the new leadership with optimism and a commitment to upholding the rule of law.
