Strategic Defense Production Collaboration between Poland and South Korea

President of Poland Strengthens Alliance with South Korea

In a recent visit to Changwon, South Korea, the President of Poland emphasized the strong partnerships with defense manufacturers Hanwha Aerospace and Hyundai. These companies provide essential defense equipment like K9 self-propelled howitzers and K2 tanks to the Polish army under a major defense contract.

President Andrzej Duda aims to localize the production of K2 tanks in Poland, paving the way for technology transfer and positioning the country as a key defense supplier in the region. This visit also explored economic opportunities, with potential exports of Polish beef and poultry to South Korea, bolstering trade relations already valued at over $11 billion annually.

Discussions revolved around regional security concerns, including the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and North Korean involvement. With 35 years of partnership, Poland and South Korea are set for increased collaboration in trade, tourism, and defense, solidifying their alliance for the future.
