Soldiers and 3 others killed in militant attack in Kashmir

Two Indian Army soldiers and two civilian porters were killed in an ambush by militants in Kashmir. The incident occurred near the Line of Control, a highly militarized area dividing the disputed territory between India and Pakistan. This region has been at the center of a long-standing conflict between the two nations.

The attack took place following a security meeting chaired by the lieutenant governor to address the rising number of incidents in the region. Recent attacks, including the ambush in Gulmarg, have heightened tensions in the area.

In response to the violence, officials have launched search operations and reinforced security measures. The attacks come amidst political changes in the region, with an opposition alliance forming a local government following the revocation of its special status five years ago.

The chief minister of the region has condemned the attacks and expressed condolences to the victims’ families. The lieutenant governor has vowed to take swift action to neutralize terrorists and ensure that the sacrifices of the martyrs are not in vain. Efforts are being made to enhance security in the volatile region.
