President Yoon’s approval rating drops to record low 20% due to ‘Kim First Lady issue’ [Gallup]

In a recent survey conducted by Gallup Korea, President Yoon Suk-yeol’s approval rating fell to 20%, the lowest since the start of his term. The decline was mainly attributed to the ‘Kim Gun-hee issue.’ This ongoing challenge has kept Yoon’s approval rating hovering around the 20% mark for over a month, hitting its lowest point in this latest poll.

The negative evaluation reasons included the ‘Kim Gun-hee issue’ at 15%, followed by concerns about the economy, livelihoods, and prices at 14%. The strained relationship between President Yoon and the opposition party leader, Han Dong-hoon, leading to ‘internal conflicts within the ruling party,’ was also a notable factor at 2%.

Interestingly, Gallup Korea also found that both the conservative People Power Party and the liberal Democratic Party had equal party support ratings at 30%. Additionally, the overall approval ratings for minor parties like the Justice Party, Reform Party, and Progressive Party were much lower.
