Uncovering the Attack on Police Convoy near Islamabad
Armed suspects launched a daring attack on a convoy of police vans near Sangjiani Toll Plaza outside Islamabad, injuring four officers and causing chaos. The convoy was transporting 82 prisoners, including two PTI lawmakers, to Attock Jail after a court appearance. The assailants brandished weapons, sticks, and stones during the assault, leading to the arrest of four attackers and the recovery of weapons and vehicles.
Following a hearing presided by District Magistrate Muhammad Azhar Nadeem, the suspects, arrested during the PTI rally on October 4, were discharged from the case due to known identities. PTI MNA Sheikh Waqqas Akram condemned the incident, while Information Minister Attaullah Tarar alleged the attack as a planned act to free prisoners. Tarar warned of strict legal action against the culprits.
