PM advocates for free colon cancer screening during pharmacy visit.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis recently promoted the national prevention program “Prolamvano” by collecting a free colon cancer screening kit for individuals aged 50-69. Stressing the importance of early diagnosis in battling cancer, Mitsotakis highlighted the success of similar programs like the ‘Fofi Gennimata’ initiative for breast cancer detection.

Encouraging citizens to take advantage of the free testing, Mitsotakis emphasized the simplicity of the process and the potential to save lives through preventive measures. He assured the public that a positive result does not equate to a cancer diagnosis but prompts further testing that is fully covered.

With over 1.4 million test kits distributed and positive feedback received, the program aims to reach 3.8 million men and women in the specified age group. Mitsotakis underscored the government’s commitment to healthcare through preventive strategies, highlighting the significance of early detection in enhancing recovery chances.

By prioritizing citizen well-being and investing in prevention, the Prime Minister advocates for a holistic approach to healthcare that benefits individuals and reduces the burden on healthcare facilities.
