Over 20 killed in Israeli strikes on Khan Younis.

Recent Israeli air strikes in Gaza have resulted in the death of at least 20 people, according to Gaza’s civil defence agency. Two homes in Khan Younis were hit, with one strike killing 14 members of the Al-Fara family and another strike killing six individuals. The Israeli military has claimed that these strikes targeted terrorists in southern Gaza as part of their ongoing operations in the region.

In a separate development, Israel’s military reported killing a Hamas commander who had participated in an attack on southern Israel in October 2023 and was also employed by the UN aid agency, UNRWA. The agency has faced criticism from Israel for employing individuals allegedly affiliated with Hamas. UNRWA confirmed the death of the Hamas commander, Mohammad Abu Itiwi, and expressed willingness to cooperate with any investigations.

This incident adds to the existing tensions between Israel and UNRWA, with Israel calling for the agency to be disbanded. The conflict in Gaza has resulted in a significant number of casualties and destruction in the region, further underscoring the need for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing crisis.
