The Iron Fist: Azerbaijan’s Victorious Counter-Offensive
BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 25. The Azerbaijani Army launched a counter-offensive operation named the “Iron Fist” on September 27, 2020, in response to a large-scale provocation by the Armenian armed forces along the frontline.
The 44-day Second Karabakh war concluded with Azerbaijan liberating its territories from nearly 30 years of Armenian occupation, restoring its territorial integrity. President Ilham Aliyev led an operational meeting at the Central Command Post of the Ministry of Defense, overseeing the efforts.
President Aliyev addressed the meeting, emphasizing the significant progress made on the battlefield. Over 100 settlements were liberated, showcasing the devastation caused by the Armenian occupation. He stressed the importance of holding Armenia accountable for war crimes and highlighted the ongoing ceasefire violations by Armenia.
Amidst ongoing battles, President Aliyev affirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to restoring territorial integrity and emphasized the need for modernizing military strategies for future conflicts. Despite challenges, he expressed confidence in achieving their goal with courage, discipline, and unwavering resolve.
